GHANAIAN MUSICIANS ARE IGNORAMUS ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA

Over the weekend there was this hot argument as to whether social media which are the facebook, twitter, youtube, myspace, google+, reverbnation, hulkshare, limelinx, flicker, among others, celebrities are suppose to have pages or not, also whether they should be operated by these celebrities themselves or not.

Well NanaYaw18.com gathered a few thought from fans, entertainment critics and the artistes themselves to find out what they think about this debate.

In finding out the answer to this debate we came across something very interesting, that is, we realize that our Ghanaian musicians (some of them) do not have the slightest idea why they should be on the social medium and its importance to their careers.

Some fans we spoke to said that, yes, they will love to see their favorite musicians on either twitter or facebook interrupting with them hence it makes them feel a sense of belonging and appreciated.

Other entertainment critics said, celebrities are not supposed to either have social media pages or operate it themselves because they can have someone do that for them.

A strong word came when one entertainment critic gave the example of Beyonce and opera not having social media pages because they don’t want to know what people are saying about them hence our Ghanaian celebrities can do same.

In all this argument what does these celebrities have to say, a chuck of them were on the opinion they don’t need to be on the platforms hence they have other ways of engaging with their fans. The minority of them said, as a celebrity you need the social media pages to run promotion for your products hence if you can support whoever is operating it, the better because you can get to sell your dream on the go from a phone.

NanaYaw18.com want to advise those celebrities or musicians saying they don’t want to hear the depressing words people say about them  hence they will stay off it that, the earlier they jump on the free promotional platforms the better for them.

If Opera is not on facebook / Twitter why would she put a # handle for her viewers to get interruptive during the days of her Opera shows. Who runs the Beyonce and the JayZ pages on the social mediums? Are we saying they are not aware of that fact or maybe  they are not aware of the content on those pages hence anything ‘nasty’ can be said in their name.

Note this, even the current President of America engaged the creator of Facebook in a seminar on how to use the social media (facebook) to promote America in helping to create Jobs. Also the President Obama runs a twitter account which is been used to solicit for votes for the upcoming elections.

There are more examples; recently football star Ashley Cole of Chelsea twittered about the English FA, calling them some names, immediately the FA in England reacted of which the footballer had to apologize through the same medium. That should get you an idea of how important and fast that media is.

We at NanaYaw18.com want all celebrities who have the accounts on the social media but do not operate it, (we gathered that many celebrities are on twitter with many followers but tweets are less than 1000) while others are very active on the social media.

We want them to know that right now, Facebook is a billion populated hence it is a whole new earth on its own hence the earlier they catch the bus to join the billion users of which majority might be interested in their products.

You see the catch here is, facebook want to increase its smart phone users hence they are doing everything possible to get the social media on mobile phones, that means one thing, you being ignorant is just a lame and dump approach to call yourself a player of the arts. 

Which one will you love, the fact that you have to pay a lot just to get your songs heard on radio, video played on TV and the likes or the fact that with youtube, facebook, and twitter the world get to hear your voice at a goal.
