As a society that often frowns on nudity or any
other form of sexual misconduct whether in public, on the Internet or in real
life, we just might be a bunch of hypocrites.
Yes, I know, calling us, Ghanaians a bunch of hypocrites
might seem to you that I am been harsh but honestly I am even been polite.
Two days ago, one lady called “Akuapem Poloo’ who
is said to be an actress uploaded a very humiliating video of her self; In that
video Akuapem Poloo almost went naked, she showed almost every part of the down
part of her body in a vehicle (I thin she was twerking)
Everything about that video when you watch it
shows that she was doing it for attention and beholds, attention she got.
That video had over a million views on her
Instagram page and it got me thinking, so 1 million Ghanaians watched that
video.
Are we not the same Ghanaians that will openly
make it clear that such behaviors are uncultured and therefore needs not to be
supported?
The other time, Moesha Buduong, also openly
exposed the shape of her vagina in a photo and that went viral in the shortest
possible time.
Who are we deceiving as a people? We act like we
frown on these things but yet we love watching it.
How could I forget; in Ghana a sex tape is seen
as normal for people to watch it together in buses and offices but pornography is
a taboo.
This Akuapem Poloo’s 1 million views on her
video, clearly shows that our culture as we thought it was is not what it is,
therefore we need to stop being hypocrites.
By the way, that 1 million views on her video are
90% Ghanaians lets not kid ourselves therefore no one should come to me with
the “how did you know they are all Ghanaians conversation”.
We should bow our heads in Shame for not been
bold enough to say, we also enjoy these kinds of videos because more than half
of the comments under the video were insults.
At least other countries have been bold and open
about it. They have made it clear that they accept this kind of culture hence
when it goes viral; we know their people made it so?
