I have followed Mr. Eazi’s empawa Africa
project over the last few weeks going into a month now and a question popped
into my head?
For those who might be hearing
about EmpawaAfrica for the first time let me try and help.
Empawa Africa is a project initiated by
AfroBeats and Banku Music artiste Mr. Eazi known for his
biggest single in Ghana yet ‘Skin Tight’ .
The project selected over 100 artistes
across the African continent via social media and enabled them to each shoot a
music video with a budget of $3000.
After the first selection, the Empawa
Africa team then made an announcement that it will short list the 100 selected
artistes to 10.
So they cut the number from 100 to 10 and
it was also announced that there will be a boot camp for the 10 artistes in
South Africa.
That boot camp is still on going now; a lot
of music experts, mainstream artistes and experienced social media experts have
all passed through the boot camp in south Africa to share their knowledge with
these talented 10 selected artistes.
Just recently on twitter Mr. Eazi announced
that the Empawa Africa team might just increase its investment from the initial
amount to 100K.
This according to Mr. Eazi will go to the
musician with the best music business plan. The latter is to help the artiste
stay independent.
Now to my question;
Is the EmpawaAfrica project, better or a
more reliable music reality project than the rest of what we have?
I am asking this because it did not just
select the artistes, put them in the house to battle each other but it
supported all of them to get their music dreams out there.
The other reality shows boxes all these
artistes to battle it out for only one artiste to get all the benefits.
Should all the music reality shows take the
path of Empawa Africa project?
Don’t forget that the other music reality
shows also give the new talents maximum exposures because they spend more time
on television.
I think that the Empawa Africa project is a
more beneficial music reality show than the others just because it is not only
one artiste who benefits but the a lot of talents.
