Hurray!! It’s Ghana Month but are Ghanaians even bothered?

The Month of March is tagged as Ghana month; that means citizens are suppose to wear more made in Ghana, eat more made in Ghana and also promote everything made in Ghana activity.

The Ghana month started recently (if my checks are right) where the independence month of the country was declared to promote the made in Ghana agenda.

Questions still remains; Are Ghanaians even bothered about this whole Ghana month? Was there enough awareness and education by the tourism and creative arts ministry for Ghanaians to really partake in this activity or we just treating it as one of those political activities to score points there fore nobody even cares if it is fully activated.

I am asking these questions because not until the 1st of March I did not see any thing any where that prompted us as citizens that made in Ghana month is almost here.

from 1st of Month i saw some media houses advocating and making noise for the Ghana Month.

Some of them even have created flyers for the month and making it attractive for their viewers / listeners to also join the campaign.

I feel, the awareness period was very short; that is, if there was even a period like that.

Now my point:

I think the National commission on Culture should have done more on the awareness than it did. I know that it just recruited Okyeame Kwame to be their ambassador but the hype for the Ghana month is not loud enough.

Can the new creative arts and tourism minister partner the National commission on Culture and use the influence of its  tourism ambassadors to drive the agenda more.

As a tourism ambassador, one of your role is to promote and champion all tourism driven activities hence the Ghana month is crucial.

I think all tourism ambassadors knew the Ghana month was set for March, so at least in February they could helped by raising awareness social media.

So in 2019 as well, Ghana month is still been piloted just because the awareness was not loud enough. As i write this article there are a lot of Ghanaians who do not know this month is tagged as Ghana Month.

Meaning as usual, as Ghanaians, we had to wait for execution time before we start creating awareness and build up some education while we should be  executing plans laid on the table such as increasing made in Ghana activities and engagements with the citizens.

Our lack of discipline towards things of this nature is so appalling.

By the way, its Ghana month, let’s eat more made in Ghana, wear more made in Ghana, promote more made in Ghana in your own small way.
