Rocky Dawuni after so many years of hard work chalked Ghana’s first
Grammy Nomination. He was nominated for best reggae album for his newest
project ‘braches of the tree’.
The news was well received by many Ghanaians both lovers of music and
general lovers of the art. Rocky had a successful Home coming concert this
December to celebrate his nomination; now that is a big WIN.
The two artist who had individual hit singles formed a music duo to
compete at the ‘Xfactor UK edition and they were 1st runners up.
If that is not a big win for 2015 then I don’t know what you will call
a big win.
When Dancehall artist Stonebwoy released ‘Go Higher’ I guess he knew
what he was going to achieve, I also do think that Bisa Kdei had a plan and
need the help of his ‘Brothers’.
EL had what we will describe as a “Koko” year while Shatta Wale came
through like “Kakai”.
The girl power was felt this year as Wiyaala gave many male a run for
their money in the business. New entry Nana Yaa also made a huge announcement
with her single ‘E go be’ indeed in these times chale ‘E go be’.
Now the 2015 music winners according to the team at NanaYaw18.com
Stonebwoy was a delight to watch in 2015. The dancehall artist is our
biggest winner for the year; counting from his successful international tours,
international awards, local wins and powerful performances.
Sharing the stage international names like the Morgan Heritage, wining
the BETs, AFRIMA, BASS Awards, 4SyteTV Music Video awards, Ghana music awards
and BET puts him in a better position.
In the year under review Stonebwoy had a huge hit single “go higher”
which brought many accolades with it plus he mounted every major stage locally.
Bisa Kdei brought attention to Hi-life in 2015. He released major
bangers such as ‘Mansa’ and ‘Brother Brother; before that he had given us ‘Saa’
a masterpiece.
Aside giving us his biggest songs in the country yet, Bisa Kdei also
launched a new album title ‘Breakthrough’.
Had the endorsement of many high profile personalities like KKD for
his creativity in production and Hi-life music.
Shatta Wale almost lost out until two songs brought him into the list.
Even though songs like ‘Romantic’ and ‘Zenabu’ were in the system; ‘hits like
‘Hol it’ and ‘Kakai’ won many platforms for the ‘Dancehall king’ hit
maker.
Now to girl power; Wiyaala and Nana Yaa came in so strong this year.
Wiyaala rocked many international festivals, signed a new record deal
and also rocked many local shows like ‘Miss Ghana 2015.
Wiyaala’s presence was felt more than some of the males in the
business this year.
Singer Nana Yaa, call her the new soul singer, the stage rocker and
Ghana’s biggest female voice. Her first single ‘E go be’ which was released
with visuals took her places this year.
She rocked many prestigious platforms including celebrating Teddy Osei
lead singer and founding member of Osibisa (this was very recent) among other
shows.
I am sure there are other artistes who made impact like FlowkingStone,
Lil Shaker, Atom, Wisa, and Luther among others but the above list are the top
winners for 2015.
