The search for Africa’s super girl group is still on, as contestants of the Vodafone icons (diva edition) took to the stage again to treat viewers to beautiful Ghanaian music, in a bid to book a place in the next round of the competition.
As always, the divas come out glamorously dressed and sang their hearts out leaving their audience with nothing but lasting memories. Kolors danced their way into our hearts while doing Wutahs “ kotosa” with Doreen singing lead, and this earned them the title “African Nubian queens” as was said by judge, Stephanie Benson.
Kyses also kissed our memories with Kwabena Kwabenas “Aso” in an energy filled performance that had audience dancing and singing along with the biggest of the night going to Breeze as they blew everybody away with an original rendition of “our money” by Barima Sidney.
The ladies started the song slowly with an acappella showing off their vocal ability then shifted into party mode as continued to wow the crowd with an amazing performance with Anita in the captains’ seat.
Like in every competition, not all the groups had a great day. Chili, the “sex kittens” of the show, failed to match up vocally to their “divalish” personalities with Susan taking the biggest hit as she was told by Stephanie Benson to “leave the lead singing to the two other group members” since “it is not a bad thing to be a back-up singer in a group” after they performed Kojo Antwi’s “Amrika”.
The only male judge on the panel, Quantos also advised that they do not only concentrate on being sexy but also on the vocals.
A very generous Jay Gartey had nothing but praise and encouragement for the group R&M even though they could not do justice to his hit single “My Lady” which had judge, Gina West literally begging for viewer to vote if they wanted R&M to survive eviction.
Overall, it was a great show as Keshi 3 did “welcome home” by Osibisa, Eboni with …. And diamonds with… by felix owusu.
Be part of this new revolution as we crown Africa’s first ever female group by voting for your favorite group, text the group’s name to 1737 on your Vodafone and any other network.
