It was the much hyped and talked about event in town as many event attendees could not wait to sit in the auditorium of the DOME – AICC to witness the second edition of Ghana Meets Naija which was held on the 30th of June 2012.
Fans that tripped to
the DOME to witness this event did not only leave the DOME with disappointment
but they left unsatisfied with so many dirt on their chest.
After the event,
18newspaper.com spoke to some fans randomly as they departed with anger from
the event venue and these were some of the comments we gathered.
Most of them thought
that the show was over hyped, as Josephine from Labadi said: ‘I think this year
Ghana meet Naija was over hyped, many of the things hyped in their interviews
did not happen and for me, I did not get the kind of excitement I was looking
for.’ I will say that last year was better than this year’s own.
We also spoke to
Jasmine from East Legon who came with friends from the UK to witness this
event. In the beginning she did not want to comment claiming she was
dissatisfied with performances from a lot of her favorites but finally spoke to
us on tape: ‘I did not get any surprises as compared to last year’s edition, all
the performances were flat, nothing extra ordinary from both the Ghanaian
artistes together with their Nigerian counterparts and what was it with the
stage floor as we saw many artistes falling down in the quest of entertaining
fans’.
18newspaper agreed
with Jasmine from East Legon with the issue of the stage floor, it was as if
organizers poured some water on it, many artistes such as Opanka and Lousika
the Boss chick all fell disturbing their performances.
David from Haatso
also noted: ‘this year I was totally disappointed with a lot of stage entries;
starting with KOD’s entry, what a blast. As compared to last year were his
entry was tagged to be the best, I am very sure this year his entry will be the
worst, if I am not scared to say I will say that Chris Attoh’s entry at the
GMAs was far better than KODs.
Also another
disappointing entry I saw this year was Kaw Kesse, every time he comes on stage
he gives the crowd something to go home with but this year, his entry was as
raw as an upcoming artistes and finally what was Kaaki doing lying in the chair
while being introduced by her DJ, wow, Ghana meets Niaja 2012 total
disappointment.
18newspaper.com spoke
to a lot of event attendees but cant publish all hence in due time we will upload the
audio version of the interviews for readers on line to have a feel.
All in all,
18newspaper.com sides with these unsatisfied event attendees as we also think
the event did not reach expectation, a lot of microphone feedbacks, lighting
control was bad, no extraordinary performance and entry from all artistes, the talking
parriot of the genius Agu dragged the show so much that some musicians present
were protesting and what with the security men at the DOME- AICC shouting on
people who have spent their hard earned money to buy tickets during the early hours of the event outside as they were queued.
Not to talk about the
way a lot of Media folks were manhandled by organizers through their security
personnels, artistes gave us next to nothing to cheer about. All in all,
18newspaper can confirm that many fans decided to jam their disappointment away
with some of the songs played by all three DJs on the night.
Ghana Meets Naija
second edition rated as a 2 star event as compared to last year’s event by
fans.
