Just when we thought
everything was going very well this month of December for the music industry, a
great legend kicks the bucket in the person of Dr. K Gyasi.
The late hi-life musician
died this morning at 7:30am on a hospital bed after several months of fighting
with prostate cancer.
According to his son, K.
Gyasi Afriyie his father was seriously battling this disease to the extent that
the children donated several bloods to him while he was in the hospital but it
is only God who knows why certain thing happen at certain times.
He also added that the
family will be meeting a week today for his one week celebration of which they
will decide the final funeral rites.
For those of us who lived
in the early days of Gold coast, we will remember Dr. with the song; ‘meko ma
obia aba, kan3 wope tsere me’. This popular hi-life song is being aired till
date on many radio stations but the question is ‘what has the legend got for
such a life inspiring song’.
This is a wakeup call to
musiga, a huge hi-life tree has fallen but his legacy lives on through his
music but where are the rewards to show for all his hard work and creativity.
To the family of Dr. K
Gyasi, we at nanayaw18.com say accept our deepest condolence for we are mourning
with you both in spirit and physical.
