Dr Slim born Mark
Buxton is a Ghanaian recording artist, entertainer, composer and a Ghana Music
Awards nominee 2013 .He is also referred to as 'Sticky' back in Senior High
school days at Nungua Senior High School. Many Ghanaians recognize him as a the
artiste who shot into fame with a hit single and had close to 5 nominations at
the country's prestigious award. He is a Hip life artiste signed to Empire
Records in Ghana.
He is considered as part of the movement that is pushing the
Azonto genre and dance. ""Dr. Slim was born on November 6th 1986 to his parents Mr. & Mrs Buxton
who are both alive. He is the first son and child of his parents with two
siblings (a boy and a girl).
Dr. Slim started his
music career from Senior High school where he used the nick name Sticky. Doing
well with entertaining both fans and friends, Dr. Slim, then, Sticky decided to
take music serious but also loved education.
After school, Dr.
Slim joined the music group E-mcies who recorded a song titled 'Mofe'. After
what looked like a good start to a good career, the group members left the
rapper when he had an accident hence they abandoned him in his painful nature.
While perusing his
music dream, Dr. Slim was also working with a corporate organization called
RANA MOTORS as a head of IT. (This comes as his love for education hence after
Nungua Senior High school he read an IT course at IPMC.
In combining music
with work and not being stopped by the first group disappointment, Dr. Slim
meet a beat maker called 'Eyoh' who lived in the same neighbourhood with him
(Bubiashi). The beat maker was then trying to set his own studio so upon
hearing what Dr. Slim has, they decided to work something out when the studio
is in shape. After weeks of ups and down, beat maker Eyoh settles and teams up
with Dr. Slim on their first major project after years in the music industry.
The first project
gave birth to the song titled 'Seke'. Dr. Slim then invited his area mate and
artiste Dobble (Nana Yaw) to collaborate on the song called 'Seke'. The latter
since then after months of good promotion became the biggest song for the year
2012 - 2013.

Dr. Slim is often
found rapping in his native language GA.
He has been awarded as an high
school music Icon. The rapper has performed on many stages including old school
reunion, NIght with the Stars, December
to remember, Universities Hall Weeks, Corporate Banking and Insurance awards,
among others. He has music awards
nominations at the Ghana Music Awards 2013 to his credit of high he was
nominated for the MOST POPULAR SONG OF THE YEAR with the song SEKE (madness).
Currently Dr. Slim is
signed to Empire Records. A subset of the Empire Group of Companies formerly
called Empire Entertainment. The label is owned by one of Ghana's biggest
radio, TV, Master of Ceremonies and Enterprenuer Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi
(AKA Bola Ray). The label Manager is Daniel Obeng Fianko (AKA Cedis). Dr. Slim has a four label mates and is
considered as a strong force in the music industry.
He also has a video
to his credit and currently has a new single out titled 'Fine Girl'. Dr. Slim
looks forward to a brighter future in the music business as now he does music
full time.
