Haven won close to twelve (12) international awards upon its release this year, ‘IJE’ (translated as The Journey), stands as one of Africa’s best movie productions so far, its premiering date slated for the 31st of December 2010 has been pushed to January 2011 for the betterment of the industry.
‘IJE’ (the Journey) tells the story of two sisters with unbreakable bonds of loyalty and the power of human spirit. When Anya, the elder of the two, vows to chase her dreams of glamour in the Hollywood Hills, her younger sister –Chioma- warns her of the dark side of American Dream.
The plot continues as, years later, in a world away from the life she knew, Anya is charged with the murder of three men, one of them her powerful husband, mean while Chioma travels to her sister’s side to battle not only a flawed justice system with the aid of a young and disillusioned attorney, but the very notion of ‘truth’ as the culture values of two worlds collide.
Weaving a melodic and beautiful score through rich visuals in Los Angeles and flashbacks on location in Nigeria, IJE, will capture viewers from the very first scene to the last delivering a powerful message.
A production written and directed by Chineze Anyaene a very ambitious young woman who at 26 is the youngest director, coming from New York Film Academy School the idea of IJE was born when the director and the producer decided to shoot a feature film for her thesis at the York Film Academy.
She describes ‘IJE’ (The Journey) as been the first standard Nigerian made Hollywood film passing all screening tests both local and international at several film festivals and has won awards still counting.
“IJE” (The Journey) has won SWANSEA BAY AREA FILM FESTICAL for Best International Student film, CANADA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for Excellence in Filmmaking, TREASURE COST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for Best Editing.
Also the movie “IJE” has won HAWAWII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL also being Excellence in Filmmaking award, SAN FRANCISCO BLACK FILM FESTIVAL for Melvin Van Peoples Award, ARIZONA BLACK FILM SHOWCASE for Best Film Feature.
The awards kept on growing as it won an award at LAS VEGAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for Golden Ace Award, MEXICO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for Silver Palm Award,  TREASURE COAST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for Best Cinematography,  TRESURE COAST INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for Best Director, this particular award was personal, she added laughing.
The journey of a good production comes to the Silver Birds Cinema’s early January, starring two of Africa’s best female actresses, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalandi Ekeinde.
