2011 Ghana Music Awards Starts Receiving Nominations

Charter House, organisers of the prestigious Ghana Music Awards told Myjoyonline.com on Tuesday tha it has begun receiving nominations for the 2011 edition of the awards. The GMA opened nominations last year and stated that the calendar year for the awards starts from December 29, 2009 to November 30, 2010. The source said that it is the cut off point for any musician or producer to qualify for the 2011 awards. They should have released their album or musical works within that time frame to qualify to enter. The source also said beginning this week, interested persons can also pick up nomination forms from Charter House. GMA is yet to call for the first Committee (Ghana Music Awards Academy) meeting. This committee is yet to be composed as the awards is looking for “people who will not have personal interests” in the awards. That committee will be made up of experienced people who have clear knowledge of the Ghanaian Music Industry. When the committee is constituted, members will meet to set the calendar of activities for this year’s awards and celebrations. The Ghana Music Awards is an annual event that seeks to acknowledge, celebrate and award excellence in the Ghanaian music industry for the particular calendar year of the awards.
