RED CAFE - HIP HOP ARTISTE |
Lyrics they say describes who an artiste is, it
sometimes brings out the hidden things about their persona hence their words
represent who they are in the eyes of their fans.
These days’ musicians are easily identified by their
popular term or saying in a song, other times a musician is noticed by his
signature tune on every song.
Information reaching 18newspaper.com reveals that
some local artiste are mimicking some terms from some huge names in the act of
Hip Hop which end up becoming popular among their fans but they can’t say it
outside the country.
Terms like, (not to mention any names) ‘What Else,
Raah, Ratatata, just to mention a few have traces from either an American Hip
hop rapper or a Jamaican dancehall artiste.
Recently a playback of 233 Connect event fabulous
live in Ghana on GH & beyond live on Viasat 1 disclosed that rapper Redcafe in the States is
the originator of a term ‘hence when he heard it in Ghana he thought people where
referring to him only to realize it was someone else the fans were rooting for.
The same applies to some terms other terms which
when released by the artiste caught the attention of many but only for fans to
know it was a borrowed term from somewhere.
Are similar terms really necessary at all, can two
artiste be sharing the same term but in different countries? Every musician
want to protect his or her own term
making sure it grows into a brand, something that will differentiate him/her
from others hence two artiste can never share the same term whether they are in
two different countries or not.
Our local artiste need to build up brand terms, because
gradually our music is going global with the western world noticing our hard
work hence there can’t be two redkafe’s in the world, there can only be one
hence we should all encourage our artistes to come out with unique brand terms
and stop mimicking terms.
