2016: Music Albums to check out – Samini’s Breaking News, AJ Nelson’s Soul Food, EL’s ELOM, Shaker’s Captain Hooks

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to a new year (sorry, I should have done that in my first article for 2016)

Even though we are in the second day of the New Year our artists are showing us how ready they are for the music year.

Truth is after all how much time do we have till all the politicians take over with campaign songs to TV ads and more hence I don’t blame them that they have started giving fans new songs that early.

But for those of us who love albums instead of singles, this is my list of music albums to check out this year.

The best songs are saved for an album (trust me), so in no particular order, the top 5 music albums to listen to in 2016.

EL’s #ELOM album

One album I will recommend for you guys is the second studio album from EL called: “ELOM”.

Many wondered why ELOM, was EL trying to introduce us to his new artist name or he was just naming an album after himself.

The truth is ELOM stands for “Everybody loves original music” and that is exactly what his 2^nd studio album is about – “Original Music’.

The album has Nigerian’s Banky W, Ice Prince and Phyno on it.  Make sure you check it out.

Next, #MARY – SARKODIE

A collection of traditional instrument weaved properly together with melodies and rhythm coiled with vocals from the very best of singers and rappers is how I describe the Mary album by Sarkodie. 

The 11 track album is good music, an arts defining Ghana’s true identity of music – Hi-Life.

Sarkodie dedicated his latest album to his late grandma who was born on the 12^th of Sept.

Mary has featuring such as Akwaboah, Mugeez of R2bees, Efya, Chase, Obrafour and the legendary Pat Thomas.

It is an album you need to check if you have not already.

Next, Captain Hooks by Lil Shaker

He is my next rated artist of the year 2015. He walked the talked and became Ghana’s most loving young rapper, singer and producer in 2015.

Little shaker after releasing hits upon hits with so many stars decided to work on his solo project and indeed he impressed me in 2015.

His latest album title: “Captain Hooks” defines his versatility as an artist. Shaker (as I call him) identifies who he is on his first studio album and proves why he is the captain of Hooks.

Make sure you get a copy of the album and listen to it.

Next, Soul Food by AJ Nelson

What is poetry? What will you describe as Spoken word?

Looking for answers in a dictionary, no, stop, go check out the 20-track album of rapper and King of BA AJ Nelson’s first studio album- Soul Food.

The saying that music is food to the soul is proven in the rapper’s master of arts that defines poetic license.

AJ Nelson known in real life as Agyei Nelson has powerful songs; I am talking about songs that will inspire and start thought provoking conversation plus songs that will get you to the dance floor.

Get the album and make sure you listen to deep rap lyrics, be in sync with the songs and get back to me if you did not like the album.

 Next, BREAKING NEWS – Samini

In 2015 at the +233 Jazz & Grill bar Ghana’s multiple award winning dancehall artist Samini launched his sixth studio album – BREAKING NEWS.

The album had songs like ‘New Style’ and many more hits.

Dancehall came of age in 2015 with Samini launching one of the best albums yet in recent time ahead many dancehall artist.

Breaking News is out and you should listen to it.
