WHERE ARE THE MUSICIANS TO BE REWARDED?

2011will also host the annual GHANA MUSIC AWARDS, the event held to celebrate musicians in the country for their hard work over a year period.

The question is very simple “WHICH MUSIC WILL BE NOMINATED” and based on what criteria.

Don’t get us wrong, all we are doing is to find out whether the current meeting held by the Ghana music awards committee was so important.

Obviously the committee will have no other choice than to nominate these low minded songs in categories, in expectation that people would consider to vote for them.

But as one musician said in his lyrics: “no body wants to listen to B***l Sh*t”, so who would spend money to vote for a meaningless song.

Reviewing the hit songs of early and late 2010, we notice that majority of those songs were danceable tunes which made little or no sense and had no music value, so are those the songs going to win awards?

Eye browse questions in town, especially among some older generation and young intellectual guys is, ‘WHERE ARE THE MUSICIANS TO BE REWARDED’.

Only a few selected musicians will pass the text and come out of the box of ‘SHALLOW MINDED” writers, due to their genre of music they do, (No wonder Ghanaian fans don’t appreciate them).

Music been the food for the soul was not just a saying some wise men put together for the mere fact that it should be but it had a purpose to fulfill, can we say that for our hit songs in Ghana?

If our musicians are not singing about the ASS of a Ghanaian girl, is either the Ghanaian or African lady been beautiful, among others, is always about a lady in Ghana, as compared to the songs we hear from our neighboring countries.

As if is the fault of the musicians alone, lovers of music in the country encouraged this shallow mind writing, since they want all songs to be going in a particular style, if it is in that style, they will not accept it.

So as we about to reward musicians, are we going to reward talent, a good song or a popular with no maturity song for the prestigious “SONG OF THE YEAR” among others?

A little look at the music industry again for 2010 and we will notice that, there should be no awards for 2011 but rather an APPRECIATION AWARDS, to appreciate musicians who gave us good, quality meaningful songs to jam and listen to.
