PRESIDENT OBOUR - MUSICGA |
The money given by
the Citizen Kofi owner was a token according to him to support the music
industry and even urged government to look at the arts industry more.
This donation was
made in the early weeks of September 2011 right after a successful win and inauguration
of president obour but nothing has been heard afterwards.
All the musicians are
asking is, what is happening to the $100, 000 donations, at least we cry for
funding to aid build certain structures for the musicians, so lets us know what
has been done so far.
They went on to say
that, nobody is attacking the president of spending any money, (just to be make
it clear on that angle) but we believe noise should be made about the progress
of how that donation is helping MUSICGA as a body in carrying out its
functions.
18newspaper will like
to plead with the executives of MUSICGA lead by President Obour to come out and
clear the air on how positive that token of a donation has helped or is helping
to build a healthy structure, for as we know that a huge amount of funds will
be needed to achieve a healthy structure but at least that could be a start.
Also, if the air is cleared on how preparations are
on going to set certain things in motion with the help from that donation, many
investors might be interested in also supporting the music industry because
they will now know how accountable and responsible the union is.
It’s been almost 9
months since that money was given out, lets Ghanaians who follow music,
musicians themselves and investors have more hope in the Obour government by
calling it, the best to have happened to musician, all we need obour to do is
just open up for accountability to the people.
18newspaper hopefully
hopes that a major response will be given to this appeal from these frustrated
musicians and the media as a whole soon.
