This year’s Miss Malaika
theme should have been a decade of Boredom and not a decade of beauty as the hyped
event was not only too boring but poorly patronized.
Readers will bear witness
to the fact that a Malaika final has always pulled a huge following but
unfortunately not a similar situation was recorded last night at the AICC –
Main hall as the 10 elegant ladies fought for the grand and prestigious prize.
Truth be told, even though
NanaYaw18.com congratulates the organizers on their 10th
anniversary, many including our humble self expected something more than just a
mess up event just like what they have been giving us all these 9 years.
Nothing separates this year from past years, honestly.
Let’s review the boredom
of Miss Malaika 2012, beginning with, due to poor attendance of the show the
event dragged so long such that after hours of waiting for people to turn up who
were nowhere to be found, production wise, it affected the show, the opening
act did not make sense, a carnival feeling was not created and in fact the cake
cutting at the beginning of the show was so unnecessary plus wrong timing.
Second off, already the poor
attendance after affecting the show the less than 2000 crowd expected some
thrilling performance from both the ladies and artistes billed but the
situation was not so.
Hip hop artiste Edem of
over again song fame was a big error for an opening act. The artiste did not
live up to expectation. Edem’s problem were, poor introduction by host Chris
Attoh, poor Sound control and quality from organizers plus his hype man became
his DJ. The guy was backing Edem from the audience just because he was
controlling the CD player. His selection of Songs for the night also failed our
hip hop star but he pulled it off successfully.
Probably that was a sign
of more disaster to follow, the Ladies came to display their low level of intelligence from
their Q&As and even their talents, it was such a disgrace to see beautiful
ladies displaying such ignorance as talents hence it made us at NanaYaw18.com
ask, what is the educational factor in Miss Malaika events, is it just the
beauty?
Miss Malaika became a pain
to watch when Darey from Nigeria after a smooth performance spoilt his soup by
introducing one of the most horrible voices in Nigeria music – one guy called Mo3
or something. Fans surely had had enough of it because already the hosts
were not pulling their weight, no style and excitement, they were just
raw (if we may use that word).
All eyes were on DBlack to
come save the night only for the Oh Vera man to come do us like that. He was
termed the worst performer for the night by the audience. DBlack did not only fail
to thrill with his songs but he had no stage craft and stage presence plus attitude,
Oh DBlack, according to the audience he should not perform anywhere again, OH
Fans, ‘ebi DBlack wey you dey do like that, aah like that’.
It was
as if the disappointment was not enough, organizers did not know what to do
with the event flow on the night, and it was so throbbing watching Miss
Malaika Ghana 2012.
If after 10 good years,
Charter Haus cannot correct simple errors on their Technical bench and put some
effort into content and performance packaging then next year, we wonder what to
expect in terms of happening next year.
The good news however is
for the first time the audience agreed with the Judges and organizers on the
selection of a winner. They said the correct
delegate won- in person of Miss Sharon delegate number 9.
Indeed it was a carnival
of Boredom and confusion at the Miss Malaika at 10 event.
Thanks to R2Bees and Miss
Malaika 2012 winner Sharon they gave the audience something to smile to, after
all nothing comes easy something we heard one of them (organizers) say after the show.
